YOU MAY BE A SLAVE TO CHOCOLATE BUT CHILDREN SHOULDN'T BE
Did you know that much of the chocolate we eat is tainted by slavery?
For decades, children in Africa have been trafficked to the Ivory Coast of Africa to have them work in the cacao bean plantations. Nestle, Hershey's, Godiva, and many other large scale producers of chocolate refuse to take responsibility for this horrific reality. Next time you reach for a chocolate bar, make sure that the chocolate is fair trade certified.
If you would like to learn more about this issue, we encourage you to watch the documentary: "The Dark Side of Chocolate." You may borrow it from the parish library or you may order your own copy here: ORDER FILM
We encourage you to gather your family and friends and watch this film together. You may even buy some Fair Trade chocolate to share with your friends at the screening.
