Society of the Divine Savior (Salvatorians)

Picture
Three thousand men and women live today as members of one or another of the communities founded by Fr. Jordan (Society of the Divine Savior - priests and brothers; Congregation of the Divine Savior - Sisters; Lay Salvatorians - men & women who commit themselves to Fr. Jordan's vision).

Our aim is to make the Savior more widely known and loved in the world today. We generally live in small communities, using our talents in whatever way we an to help build up the local church. As part of a worldwide community we are able to make present at the local level a real sense of the universality of the Church.

We do not consider ourselves so much to be followers or disciples of Father Jordan, but as members of the family he founded: we are inspired by the same ideas that he was. He attracted a group of people to form a new society in the Church - one which would not be restricted to one or two particular apostolates, but which would use "all ways and means which love for Christ inspires" to teach people to know the Savior. One of its specific characteristics would be that its members have an openness and friendly attitude toward all people following the example of the goodness and kindness of Christ himself. It is our aim to bring as many people as possible to know Jesus the Savior and to find salvation in him.

Today the three branches see them selves as an association of the Christian faithful - men and women, married and single, religious, clergy, and lay - committed to spending their time and talent working together by all ways and means, that all may come to know the Savior and creatively and collaboratively participate in the Spirit's transformation of the world into the Kingdom of God.
